Noda Long Service Awards
10 year badges Awarded in 2023
Last night we awarded Vice Chairman Craig Hill and Secretary Sara Hill with their NODA 10 years badges!
We are so proud of them and are thankful to have them both as members! You may know them both as the lighting and sound team of our wonderful shows but they do so much more for Cads and have been amazing to work with for both acting and non-acting members alike! |
LIFE MEMBERSHIP OF CADS
The Constitution of CADS states that
“The Committee shall have power to confer life membership, without payment of any subscription, upon a member of the Society who, in its opinion, has rendered signal service and is deserving of such privilege”. On 16th March 2019 Joan McDonald nominated Craig Hill to be awarded life membership of CADS for his outstanding services to the company, which was agreed and accepted by the committee.

Craig joined CADS as a helper on set building in 2009 and soon became the one that did most of the heavy work as he was the youngest. This progressed until he was asked to take over Set Design and Construction Manager in 2014.
Prior to this in 2011 he got involved in sound and lighting by producing all the music and sound effects and helping Sara Hill and Anthony Hyde with lighting. He has now taken over lighting design and is self -taught in both of these disciplines.
Since 2013 he has designed our flyers and posters and in 2014 produced CADS first glossy printed flyer for Vicar of Dibley and is now our Marketing Designer.
Craig can be seen in his office at home until the early hours designing and producing our flyers etc much to Sara’s annoyance at times. He also helped to create and now fully manages the CADS website. With a small team he now drafts out publicity articles and liaises with the press.
Probably his biggest job was when we decided to move from Pennyhill Primary School to Gayton Road Community Centre in January 2016. Craig coordinated the whole move – a massive job which, with the help of all members was done in a day. Prior to this it included clearing under the stage, refurbishing the theatre which hadn’t been used in 40 years, new electrics and lighting bars etc etc. all done in time for us to put on our April 2016 production of Flamingoland.
He is now fully involved in the update of CADS lighting system to meet with EU Regulations, giving us a plan and budget for the change over the next few years which has started with the purchase of the new lighting console. Another learning curve
Craig has been a committee member since May 2018 and I think a very worthy recipient of this Life Membership.

Mr Eric Stott MBE
60 year Diamond NODA Service Award
Eric has been associated with amateur dramatics nearly all of his life.
He started in the late 1940’s when he joined Westley Methodist Church Dramatic Society and when this company folded he joined another local company immediately the Swan Village Methodist Church Dramatic Society and played various roles including starting his directing career.
In 1960 when CADS lost their director Eric was asked if he would direct a play called The Curious Savage which he did and became an Honorary Member.
In 1962 CADS had another problem when one of the cast was ill and Eric again filled the spot playing the father in Johnie Berlinder. He had 3 weeks to learn it including learning some of the deaf alphabet.
The rest is almost history as he has continued to be fully involved with CADS ever since.
This involvement included directing, acting, set building and committee work.
In 1962 he became treasurer and was involved in raising mooney to enable CADS to keep going during hard times.
In 1967 he became Chairman a post that he held until 2006, a total of 39 years, he was President in 2006 and 2007 as well as being our ticket booking secretary up until two years ago.
Eric continues working for CADS as our auditor, front of house and is always on hand to help out with his wealth of experience.
CADS is proud that NODA is awarding Eric this well-deserved medal for 60 years service to amateur theatre
